Some distance away,, Afaki was rushing towards the school in her school uniform; she had also got the scolding last week and wanted to reach school on time. She noticed Jojo sitting on the ground and rushed towards her, “What happened?”.
 

“I stepped on a thorn”, said Jojo, in a choking voice. Seeing the blood oozing out of Jojo’s foot, Afaki said, “Don’t worry, I will take you to my house. It is close by and my mother will know what to do”. Jojo winced at the idea of going to Afaki’s house imagining how dirty it might be or what would her friends say, but she was not able to bear the pain and felt helpless.
