It was lunch break. Rami and Fela were sitting under a tree and discussing about famous tourist places in India. Rami said, “I visited Delhi last year. Qutub Minar is the tallest and the most beautiful monument in India.’’ Fela frowned and replied, “I agree it is tall but it is not the most beautiful monument. Nothing can match the beauty of the Taj Mahal. It is the most beautiful monument not just in India but the whole world.’’ Seated behind them, Daisy was listening to their conversation. She turned towards them and said, “Do you know, Taj Mahal is as high as Qutub Minar?’’ Rami replied in amazement, “I am surprised to hear this, but how can you be so sure? I have seen Qutub Minar as well as Taj Mahal. And Qutub Minar definitely looks taller than the Taj.’’ Daisy replied with a grin, “Qutub Minar as well as Taj Mahal are 73m high. This is a fact, that’s why I am sure.’’ Fela looked excited and said, “Great, now we don’t need to debate whether Qutub Minar is taller than Taj Mahal. Daisy, you have so much knowledge, I am sure would agree that Taj Mahal is more beautiful than Qutub Minar.’’ Daisy didn’t want to get into an argument so she said, “I think Konark temples are more beautiful. They have such intricate carvings and beautiful sculptures. I have only seen them in pictures, but they look stunning.’’ Before they could discuss anything further the bell rang and it was time for them to go to their classes. Rami kept thinking which was the most beautiful monument of India. She decided to ask this question to the Social Studies teacher.
