Food For Thought

1.Find out from the driver of a bus or car how many kilometers his vehicle runs per liter of fuel. Ask him how does he calculates the average speed.

2. Is it possible for a person riding a bicycle, bullock cart or motor vehicle to maintain a constant speed?

3. Find out from your school principal what kind of data on school children (average height,       weight, number etc.), he/she has to submit to the authorities. How are these averages calculated?

4. Newspapers often carry news items about drought and flood in which they give statistics of   the average rainfall in a region. Similarly, in summer/winter they give average day temperatures. Try to find out how this data is collected and calculated.
