In the activity below cutting tool is not available. However, you can drag children and make groups and then distribute food.

Please have a copy and pencil with you so that you can draw and work out the share of students if needed.

After you have distributed the cake fairly among all the children, take a Screenshot and upload it on the platform “ Gallery” in this folder that you have created called “ PR Unit 1”. For help about how to take a screenshot and upload, watch help video in Activity 1.1.
Have you uploaded the screenshot of the activity in the “PR Unit 1” Folder in the Gallery?

If not, please upload the screenshot by clicking this upload button.

Were there any differences in the strategy thought by you and your buddies? Write all the different ideas you thought about for distributing the cakes ?

(Click here to write a note.)

What is the share of each child in Group A? Is it same or different from share of each child in group B?

(Click here to write a note.)

Write a note about what you learnt from your mistakes in this activity?

Think about your answer in the previous activity. Do you agree or disagree with the statement that “ When we divide students into two groups then we should give each group half the total number of cakes”. Make a note about it

Susan found an interesting pattern in the answers on the activity for sharing cakes. She said that the share of each person in the group can be found by writing the number of cakes in the numerator and the number of people sharing it in the denominator. So, when 4 cakes shared among 5 people, then each person will get the share of ⅘ cake. What do you think? Is she right ? Discuss.
