Using a scale to measure the mustard seeds

\r\n\r\n

\r\nIn this part we will find out how to use our regular scale, with millimeter marking to measure the average diameter of the mustard seeds. the scale is not suitable for measuring the diameter of a single seed (Why?), but for a bunch of seeds this can be used.
\r\n
\r\nFor this we will align the seeds in a line and measure the length of the these aligned seeds. You can see this done for 5 seeds in the photo below:

\r\nWe make a table in our notebook to write down the observations. We have to repeat this task for 10, 15, 20 and 25 seeds (you can choose to do more also). For each set of 5, 10, 15... repeat the measurements for 3 times, with different set of seeds (Why?). Each time we will record the number of seeds and thier combined length. Thus at end of the activity we will have a table looking like this:

\r\nOf course you have to fill in the values of the length that you get from your own observations.

\r\n\r\n

Some precautions

\r\n \r\n\r\n

During conducting of the above observations/measurements we need to be cautious about certain things. Make sure that you take these precautions.

\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
\r\n

Note: This is a homework activity. Use the mustard seeds at your home for this.
