Kanasu: Zo, Sahir, I've decided on what I'm going to do for the science fair. Zo: Go on. Kanasu: I'm going to make a model of a machine which will draw water from the canal and take it to the fields that aren't getting any water. Zo: Wow...that sounds exciting. Can we work together? I'll help you build the machine. Kanasu: Are you sure you want to work with me? Zo: Ha ha. It can't be that bad. Sahir: Kanasu, that is a great idea. I'm going to plant vegetables on a small plot of land and observe them as they grow. (desperate bleating of goats) Sahir: Hmm...That's unusual. Why are the goats bleating like that - they sound like they are in trouble. Kanasu: Wait. What's that smell? Something's burning! Zo: There! See! Over there! Sahir: Fire!!! Kanasu: Oh no! That is my uncle's land! Zo: Run! (sound of footsteps running, they get closer to the place of the fire) Sahir: It's the hay! The hay is on fire! Zo: There's no one around. But the fire might spread to the goat pen very soon! Sahir: Oh no! What do we do? Kanasu: I think I should run and tell uncle. Sahir: But we need to do something now or the fire will spread! Zo: Yes. We should first put the fire out. Kanasu: Find a way to put it out while I run and call my uncle. Sahir: Good idea! Kanasu: Be careful, you two! Don't get close to the fire. Sahir: Come back soon, Kanasu! Zo: Do you know if there is a pipe close by? Perhaps, we could pour water on it. Sahir: I do not think that is a good idea. Hay is useless when it is wet. We need to put sand or mud on it. Zo: There should be a spade or something we could use at the goat pen to scoop up mud. And we should first protect the goat pen. Poor goats! Sahir: It might be good to call for some help. We will need more people to stop the fire from spreading. Zo: Okay. You go to the market and call for help. I'll stay here and make sure none of the goats are hurt. (coughing sound) Sahir: The smoke isn't good for you Zo! Zo: I'll take my hanky and tie it around my nose and mouth. Don't worry I will be careful. You take the cycle and go right now! (coughs) (sound of hurried cycling) (right then Kanasu's uncle appears with Kanasu (sound of running footsteps) Kanasu's uncle: Oh no!! My hay! Half of it is gone! What will my goats eat now? Zo: Uncle! Are there any more tools we can use to put mud on the fire? Kanasu's uncle: There is a bunch of spades on the left side of the pen. Kanasu, you take one. I'll take one and let's stop this fire! Kanasu: I see Sahir coming with some villagers. (shouts/voices/people making sounds) Person #1: Start from here and work inwards. Person #2: It's reducing! Well done, everyone! Zo: Phew! The fire is finally out. Kanasu's uncle: Thank you Kanasu, Zo and Sahir. Sahir: You are welcome, Uncle. Kanasu's uncle: I wonder what caused it? Kanasu: It is normal, uncle. There was a light shower in the morning and that causes hay to catch fire, sometimes. Science explains it. Kanasu's uncle: I was planning to build a shelter for the haystacks. Kanasu: You could consider covering the stacks with sheets in the meanwhile. Zo: Kanasu is right. Kanasu's uncle: Smart children. Your quick decisions helped me save a lot of my hay. Kanasu: And the goats too! Kanasu's uncle: And the goats too! Ha ha ha! -----------------------------
