High blood pressure

Blood flows within our body through cylindrical (tube-like) vessels known as blood vessels. You might have seen bluish green structures at the back of your hands. These are a type of blood vessels.

Blood pressure is the pressure exerted by the lower half of the heart when it pushes blood out of the heart into the blood vessels of the body. When it relaxes, the blood continues to flow, but at a lower pressure. Arteries are a type of blood vessels which carry blood from the heart to the other body parts. In this section, we shall learn about blood pressure or BP.
