A wise old owl was sitting on a tree and listening to their conversation. He called them and said, “Each one of us has different qualities. A swan can swim in the water; a parrot can imitate human voice; a peacock can dance; a sparrow is small and swift.’’ The crow was disheartened because he couldn’t think of any good qualities of his. He interrupted the owl and said, “I feel all the more dejected, clearly I am the unhappiest of all the birds.’’ The owl smiled and replied, “Haven’t you heard the story of a thirsty crow? Crows can use tools like pebbles to solve problems!’’ The owl continued, “Look at me. I can’t swim or dance but I can see very well in the dark. I can turn my neck backwards and see things behind me. Isn’t that great! When all the other birds are working hard during the day, I am sleeping peacefully in my nest. But if I was asked to swim or to dance I might not be able to do it so well. All of us are best at something but not everything. We should work hard and excel at what we do best, rather than pitying ourselves. ’’
