Finding patterns in data

  1. To begin, you will create your population by clicking Setup Large Population. This creates your population and assigns traits to  your population.(You will get a different population each time)

  2. Once you have setup your population’s dataset, you can now sort and group people by
    pressing the “Sort By…” buttons.
(The population traits like number of males, number of females, number of anaemic, etc are same for the population. Whenever you will sort, same population will move on the screen.

  3. Now, you are the investigator looking at a population. As you can see, some people are anemic (yellow).

Are some people more likely to be anemic than others?

Note: As soon as you open the simulation, you will see many buttons and some of them even overlap others but Don't Panic! Just click on the 'Setup large Population' and everything will go to it's place.

For large population:

When you sort the data, try to look at the magenta and yellow dots and estimate what % of
each subgroup is anemic. Then click the “Show %...” button and check your answer. How close
were you? Was the % what you expected?

Now, let's try to explore the small population data and it's traits.

For Small Population:

Create  Small population by clicking "Setup small population". Sort the population using different traits. Repeat the procedure and try to see if you can observe any patterns. Compare small population results with large population and answer following questions.
